"Why Should I Buy My Tree From
The Truckee Optimist Tree Lot?"

Because the tree lot:
  • Contributes $30,000 to Truckee's kids every year.
  • Is stocked with both locally cut and Oregon cut trees.
  • Gives your tree a fresh cut, trims up the limbs, and carries it to your car.
  • Can deliver your tree to your house for a small fee (more money to Truckee's kids!)
  • Gives high school kids an opportunity to volunteer and fulfill their community service hours towards graduation.
  • And I'll repeat:  The tree lot contributes $30,000 to Truckee's kids every year.

About Letting The Optimist Club Select Your Tree

Selecting a Christmas Tree each year is a time-honored tradition for families that signals the beginning of the Christmas season.  Most of us at, one point or another, have spent the afternoon with friends and family going from tree lot to tree lot looking for the perfect tree.  For the safety of our volunteers and patrons, we'd like to select your tree for you this year, and here's why it's not such a bad idea:
  • Most of the trees we sell are Noble Firs from Oregon.  These firs are trimmed and shaped as they grow.  They are very consistent from tree to tree.  When selecting Noble Firs for you, we will likely just grab one that's already wrapped up that matches the size you are looking for.
  • Some of the trees we sell are locally cut Red Firs (Silver Tips.)  Those of you who select Red Firs know that these trees have not been trimmed or shaped and are quite inconsistent.  But that's why we love these trees.  We'll do our best to select the best tree currently available on the lot for you.
  • It's just a better plan for all of us right now if we limit contact between individuals.  It's safer for you and it's safer for our volunteers.

Our Christmas Tree Varieties

Picture
Noble Firs
Noble Firs are long considered an excellent Christmas tree because of their beauty, stiff branches and long keep ability. The needles of the Noble Fir sometimes have a blue tint.  The Noble Fir is a very traditional Christmas tree, and is an excellent choice for the early Christmas tree shopper because they hold their needles well.  Nobles are a little fuller as compared to Red Firs and are best for situations when lighting is the predominant decoration.  Our Noble Firs are grown in Oregon and have been trimmed and shaped throughout their lifetime to create a consistent shape from tree to tree.

Red Firs (Silver Tips)
Red Firs are closer to what you'd call your "Charlie Brown" Christmas Tree.  The space between branches make for more room for hanging ornaments.  Our Red Firs grew just about twenty miles north of here, just west of Jackson Meadows.  These trees come to you naturally and have not been trimmed or shaped.  They are just as they were in the forest, imperfect but unique.
